Path To Success: An Entrepreneurial Approach

Have you ever spent your time at the pool people-watching while the kids are swimming? Silly question I know, because we have all been “that person” at one time or another.

What you may have noticed during your time at the pool is that there are two very different ways people enter the water.

First, you have your timid toe-toucher. This person dips their toe to get a feel for the water temperature. They creep in slowly, ready to bale if the cold overcomes them. They may or may not enter the water completely.

Then you have the one who goes all-in. They are a no hesitation jumper. This individual is completely committed to the task. They are going to fully submerge themselves into the water no matter what.

The life of an entrepreneur usually resonates with one of these two approaches as well... but only one path leads to success.

When Harold and I began our journey towards entrepreneurship, there were so many reasons to be timid and stop to consider the risks. Some people would have encouraged us to simply “dip our toe” in and see how it worked out.

And while I am not at all encouraging you to throw all caution to the wind and foolishly pursue an endeavor that could lead to financial ruin for your family, I am telling you that you have a much better chance at succeeding if your mindset is more like the “no hesitation jumper.”

If you begin your journey towards entrepreneurship without being fully committed, or with an exit strategy in place, you probably won’t be happy with your outcome.

Success starts in your head.

If you yourself cannot be committed to the idea of entrepreneurship, people won’t buy into your vision. Why should they invest their time, money, and energy into something that YOU are afraid could fail? And don’t kid yourself...people know!

Even in your conversation about your entrepreneurial journey, always speak with the confidence and excitement of someone who is unwilling to accept failure. Your vibe will be contagious.

Don’t be afraid to take that conversation internal!

You may need to remind yourself that you are fully capable. You do not need to put your focus on an exit strategy. When you drive past McDonalds or swing by Target, don’t allow your mind to consider the possibility that, if all else fails, you can get a job there for $15 an hour (don’t tell me you haven’t thought about it at some point as a last resort to make you feel better *wink*).

Remember your journey began with a “why.” At the heart of what you desire to accomplish is a vision for your life. In moments of wavering, remember your overall vision and end goal and it will help keep your thinking on track!

We can’t do the actual mindset work FOR you, but we CAN help you strengthen your mind and give you confidence in your commitment.

We've been where you are going, and we know you can do it just as successfully as we have.

We believe in you so much, we are willing to grab your hand and make that plunge into the water right next to you! Just remember we can’t jump with you, unless you reach out!
