Becoming A Leader in Your Network Marketing Business

Congratulations! The fact that you’re reading this means there’s something special about you. Many people climb the ranks of their network marketing company, and some even quickly, but very few people actually reach the top ranks. Even fewer hit those top ranks and sustain it…

It’s not because these opportunities are scams or frauds. It’s not that they are created to confuse people to do the work but then leave them with something they cannot grow or duplicate. It’s because very few people themselves are committed to duplication, growth and sustainability…

It is not by chance that there are very few leaders, in the world, as a whole. If we were to compare the number of great minds alive today making a difference in the world in their respective careers or missions compared to the current population, Our minds would be blown.

Then there are the unspoken leaders that will create a life of significance for themselves and others but will only be known to their families, friends or  a small part of that population too…Guess what, that’s us. Network Marketing Professionals who saw an opportunity of significance and ran with it…

But you don’t just click “join” and turn Pro overnight while creating a massive organization trailing behind you setting others free in the process without discovering and implementing wisdom passed down age after age. To discover the things I’m about to share with you and implement them no matter what is to unlock your true potential and create incredible results that will move you and others into the ranks as Top Leaders in Network Marketing.

As you emerge into the top rank of your company, there are 6 key areas you want to study and grow in:

  1. Belief & Grit

You’re entering uncharted territories here. Not that you haven’t seen it done, but you’ve never experienced it done. Going to this level takes your brain, heart and body functioning at the same speed. Living like this isn’t normal y’all…it’s extraordinary.

Creation of this magnitude is going to take you tapping into the most positive parts of your brain. To tap into full belief you will need a mixture of vivid visualization and true affirmations.

I want you to picture yourself standing on that stage your company’s next large event.

  • What will you be wearing?
  • Who will be cheering for you?
  • Picture your team staring at you in gratitude for paving the way.
  • What will you say?

Once the event is over:

  • How will this milestone impact your life, your home, your family?
  • How will you celebrate? A trip, a new family vehicle, private school for your kids or maybe a new home?

Next, I want you to write the speech, buy the dress or the suit, put the time at which you’d like to reach this milestone and earn that reward in your calendar. Don’t freak out here…if you’re close to being in leadership, you should be earning a significant income here. Maybe not enough to go buy a new home now, but thats the point, once you’re a top leader you will be on your way to earning the top of the income bracket for your company…

Your world and your opportunities are going to be WAY different. So start picturing it because if you cannot picture it so vividly that you can taste it…so vividly that you cannot get this vision out of your mind…so vividly that it’s the first thing you think about when your feet hit the floor in the morning and when your head hits the pillow at night…then if you can’t do that, it can’t be yours. So, you better start believing!

Once you grab hold to that belief, you’re going to unlock the next critical element, GRIT!

Grit is the tenacity to go after your goal on sick days, chaotic days, in times of confusion, times of loss, times of stalled out business growth and times of death even.

BELIEF + GRIT= CREATION AMIDST JOY AND CHAOS

You cannot slow this train, no matter what. You know what you want, you know what you have to do and nothing will stand in your way because EVERYTHING is your apart of your “WHY”.

If I told you every single obstacle or eruption that happened during our first 5 years of building our network marketing business your jaws would drop in disbelief. I will tell you a few key things; however, so you know you’re not alone.

  • My mother, whom I adored, got ill, went into a coma for 3 months, came to but not able to clearly communicate or care for herself and then passed away, all within our first 2 years in business.
  • Harold lost his god father, who was like a second dad, a week before my mom.
  • Oh and it was 2 weeks before Christmas.
  • He then lost his grandfather to cancer.
  • Employees at our brick and mortar were leaving left and right with our clientele.
  • We had to put payroll for our brick and mortar expenses on our credit cards.
  • 2 of my sisters passed away within 6 months of each other, one due to the longterm effects of substance abuse and obesity and the other due to liver failure associated with alcoholism.
  • I had took care of my sister in hospice and kissed her goodbye while taking care of my 3 month newborn son.
  • Oh yeah…we gave birth to our third child all during this time as well.

Were we exhausted, heart broken, sad beyond belief, and all cried out? Of course!

Were we broken, hopeless, and ready to throw the towel in on our dreams. Absolutely NOT…

Why? Because, we knew we had two choices…

  1. We could run away and try to forget. I

OR….

  1. Keep on keeping on.

We had tried giving up and running away many times. Nothing ever actually goes away. Your experiences, good or bad will always be there and a dream unrealized can haunt you more than anything. Because, “Once you see, you cannot “unsee”.

If giving up is unfulfilling, then beyond the blood, sweat and tears is something truly Glorious…Accomplishment and fulfilling untapped potential. If you have seen the beautiful life you want to create, you cannot just walk away from it. Choosing to be resilient and persistent at all costs is a key trait of amazing people we call leaders.

  1. Servant Leadership

When we entered network marketing, I discovered something about myself I had never noticed…I was a pretty selfish person. It was all about my time, my things, my family, my possessions and my desires. Ouch…that was one realization that really stung and sometimes it even infiltrated into how I was raising my kids and treating my spouse. There is no room for selfishness in your home, relationships or network marketing…

In fact, in network marketing, you can sniff out selfishness from miles away. Everyone has met that hard driver. You can always tell by the way they hold themselves and the things they say that they are solely in it for them… trying to hit their number… only caring about their goal. They are 100% consumed with what’s in it for them.

If what you desire is a large thriving team full of many people hitting their goals, as well as you hitting yours, you’ll have to know the BIG goal you want longterm and then tuck it into your back pocket and only focus on who you can help today. Helping others move towards what they want will help you move towards your dreams too.

That means for the sake of the team (or a growing or new partner) you will have to get uncomfortable. It will be you who initiates events, creates team trainings, works one-on-one with partners, and filling your schedule for the sake of others to teach them and assist them. Baby birds don’t fly as soon as they hatch. Your wings are stronger and more experienced so you are the one who feeds them and nurtures them as they learn to fly.

Learn to love your team and love their goals as much as you are your own. And, not just your team but people not on your team. Share successes openly and publicly so in the process you can inspire others regardless of the fact they may never join you. Success is a team effort and achieving your dreams will be so much sweeter as you help others achieve their dreams too.

  1. Hand Selecting

Remember the day you only had one or two partners??? The excitement you felt and yet the apprehension…”I have to do this how many more times?! Who cares, this is fun!”

Now, you have a large organization. Once, you had plenty of time to work with every single team member, now, it’s impossible. Leaders must learn to look within their business and hand select the right people to focus with and work hard with in between team trainings and events. What you’re looking for is “Hungry, Humble and Smart”…

Don’t go chasing potential. Sometimes you will find people that have it all; the circle of influence, the skills, and yet they lack the desire because they don’t believe or they can’t get over one or many hurdles. And, then you can find others who strap up their shoe laces and ask you, “how fast can you run?” You are looking to laser in on partners that want to grow and want to grow fast doing 30, 60 and 90 days blitzes with these people.

Now, you don’t just turn a cold shoulder to the rest of your team rather give them the right amount of training for the effort they are willing to put in to grow. Many times these are people that have action steps right in front of them (because you gave it to them many times) and they are just not taking action! You keep them plugged in to trainings, events and give them a nice call or text a few times a month. These people just need to know you care and you haven’t forgotten about them and they need the community to feel safe while they discover their courage to grow. This will free you up to water plants ready to grow.

  1. Leading From The Front

Once you’re earning a nice income, it can be easy to become complacent and lower your personal out put. But isn’t that one of the perks of putting the time in to develop a team?! Well, yes and no, you build a team to leave a legacy and to leverage your time. And, the day will come that you’ll just be able to chill and train your team and take amazing vacations, but that day is not today. Emerging leaders must never take the foot off the pedal…

You set the pace for your team. What you accomplish sets the tone for what’s possible. If you want your team to believe, then you have to be the one earning the incentive trips, the car (if that’s what your company does), starting the most clients and starting the most partners. This is a game of “monkey see, monkey do”. If you’re not modeling the things that you want your team to do, all the way to your family life and structure, then 9 times out of 10, your team will reflect the same.

  1. Law of Association

Have you ever heard that you are most like the 5 people you spend the most time with?

Who you center around yourself has a huge importance on the reprogramming of your brain. Many Leaders are forced to go through a process of disassociation because their long time friends and family just can’t understand what they are building.

Have you noticed, people don’t like change. It makes them uncomfortable and, often is a mirror for them reflecting the things they never did and the dreams the left behind. It has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them. I’m not saying you have to completely disown people, but if you find that the people you usually spend time with don’t value what you value and are often bringing you down then it’s time for some distance.

Then, it’s time to make some new friends. Look for people who are success minded people. People who are thinkers, readers, givers and are living the kind of life you admire. This may be in your company, in parallel companies or just in other facets of life…

Choosing to center ourselves with BIG thinkers was a game changer! Our self-limiting beliefs, negative thinking, and lack of knowledge was exposed just by listening to our new friends and, at the same time, just by listening and watching intently to these people, we were educated.

It will create a desire in you to be, do and think differently. You will come to see you’re not so strange and that there are others who came before you and created an amazing life. Your belief will grow a million times over and your energy to pour into yourself and others will be endless.

  1. Self Care and Creation

You would think I wouldn’t need to teach on self care and getting into creation, but believe it or not, this is actually an achilles heel of many leaders. They confuse self-care with selfishness and that is not an accurate correlation. Leaders get confused because they spent so much time getting SO laser focused on others, “getting lean”  and cutting out excess (as a necessity for focus and paying off debt), and no longer mind not spending extra money on the things they have come to see are not necessities…that they forget to come up for a breath of AIR. 

Here’s where you learn to invest your money back into yourself because you spent a ton of time and energy pouring into others. And, because now you’re not a stranger to hard, focused, consistent work you will need to learn to take regular time outs to regenerate yourself. Being laser focused can drain you mentally and physically. We need leaders who are RADIANT and your team needs to see you moving into a legacy lifestyle to see they will be able to come out of the grind and into stability.

Self-care is simple. My daily morning routine consists of 60 minutes of time spent on these 6 things: meditation, prayer, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading and writing. It is only a few minutes on each thing but it helps me feel focused and peaceful. Other things that consist of self-care are: eating healthy, time with your spouse/family, date nights, spa treatments, nails, hair, a new outfit, massage, hiring a personal trainer/gym membership, being outdoors, going to a bible study or book club. I bet you can come up with a few yourself…

The point is, you’ve worked hard to create an amazing flexible schedule and now you are able to get centered and do things that fill your cup.

Now, Creation is simple and yet complex,  this is what turns heads and will blow your mind. Creation is taking that vision board and all the goals you’ve written and turning them into life! If you wanted to take your whole family on big debt free vacation when you hit a certain milestone, do it! If you finally have the income to quit your job… then pick up the phone now. If you’ve dreamed of moving your family to a new home, out of state, or being full time RV’ers for a year…do it!

Now is when you get to reach into that back pocket and grab those dreams! Then, PINCH YOURSELF because today it is no longer a dream. You, my friend put in the work to make it a reality…

I can remember the day Harold and I went looking at homes on a work trip to Arizona. Looking at homes had once been a hobby of ours, but that’s all it was. We could never afford the kind of custom homes with beautiful views that we gazed upon. However, on this trip, we had the income, and then some, so when we looked at the perfect home with the mountain views— We. Were Done!

We hopped back on our plane to Louisiana and Harold looked at me and said, “What are waiting for? Let’s do it.”

This is about your version of YOUR Freedom becoming a reality. Leaders are not just “goal staters”, they are Goal Makers!

  1. A Team Outside Your Team

“ It takes a village to raise a child.”  Have you ever thought of your new emerging leadership mindset as a delicate child? One that needs care and support from several people? When you decide to live a life that most people only dream of, you also decide that you and your family have different needs…

I come from a large family of 7 kids. My dad worked offshore 2 weeks out of every month. My mother was a one woman show a majority of the time and that meant she did all the cooking, cleaning, laundry and groceries ALL the time. That was her full-time job. You can try to justify it, why you should be doing these things all day long, but as long as you do you will feel like there is a constant struggle between “old world” and “new world” ways.

Are you are, in fact, creating unique life and yet still insisting you CAN do it all? The fact is that you have discovered your calling and your talent. You are a “leader of leaders” who trail blazes the path to abundance and….”OMG he/she also does all the laundry and dishes and cleaning ALL the time. She’s so perfect..I just can’t do that.”

The truth is…neither can you. A ball is going to drop or you’re going to want to pull your hair out!

            There are people you can bless by hiring them to help with your laundry, clean your house or watch your kids a few hours a few times a week. It does not make you “Less” for accepting you can do less. It makes you a person of an abundance mindset who is accepting that they need a team in all facets to do the special things they are doing daily…

It demonstrates to our children how to out-source and accept flexibility as it frees you up to do what you love doing! Being in the zone! As  well as being able to play with your kids instead of crying over the piles of laundry or housework.

The team inside your home will also help you grow immensely and it’s the best investment one can make. I made the mistake of putting this off for years after we actually could hire help. Once I finally gave in and admitted I was not being effective to my home or our team by being so stretched, we hired someone to clean our house every other week…

We loved the freedom and comfort so much, it quickly turned to every week. Before we knew it, I even out-sourced my laundry!

“Who do you think you are?!” I sometimes ask myself…

“A happy, relaxed, focused mom, wife and business leader earning a mind-blowing income from home.” I reply… The voices shut up. 🤐

Alright Leaders! This right here is the secret sauce. Keep in mind, these steps are going to unfold over time. Be patient and diligent knowing that you are a diamond in the rough starting to really shine in this process. This is the part that is not measured on our compensation plans in network marketing and, yet, it’s a priceless commodity and one that is your duty to demonstrate for others so you can help them leap towards freedom too. How you grow from this process will amaze you and truly transcend into every relationship, as well as the one you have with yourself.
